I've given this subject much thought the last few days and I've made some decisions. If you know ME at all, you will understand.
I've believed my entire life that Funeral Homes and the whole pre-burial process is barbaric. I cannot understand how "viewing" someone's cold, dead, empty shell of a body, laying there in a fancy box, surrounded by stinky flowers, in a strange room.... HOW can that be interpreted as comforting for the people left behind?! The body never LOOKS like they did in life. The person who died is not there. The whole process is morbid, bizarre and disgusting to me.
And so, I've decided that I will never again attend a "Viewing" or enter a Funeral Home for any reason. I will mourn for those I love MY way. If there's a memorial service somewhere (other than a funeral home and without the remains present), I'll attend that. You want to have a party to celebrate the life of the person who's died? I'm there.
I will mourn for you and I will miss you. But I'll do it on my terms and not what's expected by our culture's traditions. I will remember you alive!
When I die, my remains are to be sent directly to the crematorium. Nobody needs to keep my ashes. There will be NO Funeral! Remember me alive, please. If you feel the need to spend thousands of dollars to "honor" my dead body...please give it to a charity that will help those who are still alive and can benefit from the assistance instead! Same thing with flowers....if you can't give them to me while I'm alive to appreciate them, don't send them to me when I'm dead.

New Year's Eve
My horoscope in the paper this morning said I would be ringing in the new year "in style" tonight. I have a cold and I feel like crap so I kinda don't think that's gonna happen. As a matter of fact I'm thinking right now - @5:54pm - about going to bed already. Happy Freakin' New Year!
Not being able to breathe through my nose always makes me cranky. Not being able to breath through my nose while I'm on Christmas break and don't have to work makes me even crankier. I don't feel like doing any of those things I'd planned on doing this week. My body is not cooperating with me at all. And I'm bored. And did I mention that I'm cranky?

Daily Routine M-F
Here's my routine for a normal work day....as you can see, I lead such an exciting life I can barely stand myself!
4:45am – Drag my sleepy butt out of bed. Wash my face, brush my hair & teeth, get dressed, and slap on a bit of makeup, all while listening to the morning news on WPTV. On my way to the kitchen to gather my lunch, I give the dogs a Milk-bone and take my meds and I’m out the door by 5:20.
5:20 am – Drive to work, usually while listening to an audio book.
6:00 am – Make a pot of coffee and have breakfast while I review my To Do List for the day and then enter a few sweepstakes until my actual starting time (7:00 am). If I don’t have this quiet time every morning my day will be a disaster!
7:00 am – Read and respond to the truckload of emails I have every morning. Listen to phone messages and return calls. Work on whatever is top priority on my To Do List, assign projects to my staff, answer questions, etc until lunchtime.
11:30 am – Lunch! I eat at my desk while dinking around on the Internet for an hour.
12:30 pm – Continue knocking things off my To Do List, attend meetings, review what the girls have done, etc until quitting time.
4:00 pm – Drive home while listening to an audio book. Helps prevent Road Rage.
5:00 pm - Shower and put on comfortable clothes. Have a cup of coffee while I sort the mail and take care of any bills or household chores while simultaneously cooking dinner and chatting with John while he feeds the dogs.
6:00 pm – Eat dinner, usually in front of the TV, I’m ashamed to confess. Watch whatever’s on the DVR for an hour or two and play with the dogs. Tidy up the house a bit, review my To Do List for tomorrow, set out something for dinner, and lay out my clothes for in the morning.
8:30 pm - Brush & Floss. Moisturizer if I think about it. Get comfortable in bed and read until I get really sleepy.
9:30 pm – Night Night!

wii Fit
I ordered a wii Fit on my lunch hour today....along with the wii to use it on, and several accessories and a couple of games. Now I'm suffering buyer's remorse. Big time! What on earth possessed me to buy this so suddenly? When I got up this morning the thought never crossed my mind! Shouldn't I have thought about it for a few days before giving in to the urge? Especially given my past record of buying exercise equipment and not using them more than once or twice! I just blew over $500 on a whim! I am an idiot!!!

Pistachio Recall
"The central California firm earlier this week recalled 2 million pounds of nuts over fears of possible salmonella contamination. Last month, New York agricultural authorities found live and dead cockroaches and rodent droppings inside the Commack plant, which failed its state health inspection."
Isn't this scary?? And you know it's not just a problem with this one company....look how many times just this year there have been recalls for other foods! What is WRONG with us as a society that things like this can happen?

20 Questions
1. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a stewardess (flight attendant in today's lingo) so I could go everywhere in the world. Then I wanted to be a Marine Biologist (until I saw Jaws), then I thought being an Archaelogist would be very cool (until I decided I don't like to get my hands dirty and I hate to sweat!).
2. What have you done in the past week to help someone else?
Nothing. Now I feel guilty.
3. Who is the best-dressed person you know?
I don't know anyone I'd call "best-dressed". We're all very casual here in South Florida.
4. What is on your nightstand?
My iPod Player/Clock Radio, a small jewelry box, a phone, a few Scrunchies and a bottle of Advil.
5. How many cities have you lived in?
Belle Glade, South Bay, Delray Beach, Jacksonville, Orlando, Winter Garden, Lake Worth, West Palm Beach. 8!
6. If you lived in a house surrounded by acres of trees, what particular type of tree would you want flourishing on your land?
Orange trees....when they bloom they smell like heaven!
7. Have you ever had a broken bone?
No.
8. How many email addresses do you have?
More than 4...one for sweepstaking, one for personal emails, one for bill paying and 1 for work. And several that I don't use.
9. Have you ever fallen asleep and forgotten where you were?
Yes, but it didn't last long.
10. Do you ever dream about the same thing more than once?
Yes. I dream about a very large, very mean, bear who is chasing me (usually when I'm worried about something). And I dream about Tidal Waves (Tsunami's) every now and then when I'm feeling overwhelmed by things I have no control over.
11. What is the wallpaper on your phone?
A peacock feather.
12. Name a lyric from the song you're listening to.
I'm not listening to anything right now....except (Thanks to Elaine) the song going on in my head.
"I fell in to a burning ring of fire. I went down, down, down and the flames went higher." 'Laine really likes the version Adam sang on Idol last week!
13. What was your very first paying job?
I worked at a Library during the summer one year when I was about 14. Mostly putting books back on the shelves.
14. What chocolate do you always leave in the box?
Caramels. And anything with a jelly-like or gumdrop interior.

Yes, but I base the amount on the level of service I receive.
16. Could you live without television for a week?
Not a problem.
17. Are you a talker or a listener?
I am a listener. I'm a very quiet person. So quiet that people will ask me if I'm alright. I talk when I have something to say, and sometimes I can be fairly chatty, but most of the time, I'm quiet.
18. Have you ever walked on the beach at night?
Yes. It's beautful and I love the sound of the ocean. It's very relaxing.
19. What was the last thing you bought for yourself?
Cover Girl Outlast LipStain.
20. What are you wearing right now?
A black Slinky pants set.

Lip Stain
I bought some Cover Girl Outlast LipStain in Plum Pout and I really like it! It's very light weight and not sticky feeling at all. I hate sticky, heavy, gooey lipsticks so I rarely wear any at all, but I think this is going to work for me. When I first tried it on (cool applicator, btw - kind of like a felt tip pen) I was afraid it was going to be too dark, but after I blotted, it was perfect. Great stuff! I will definitely be looking for more colors.
